About Us

Why "Amma's Mind"?

Mission

Amma's Mind empowers women in Sri Lanka by providing vital resources and education to preserve brain health and promote healthier reproductive functioning. We create a space for learning and healing, as well as providing a voice for those who have gone unheard — making the reproductive process healthier and aging simpler.

Vision

We envision a Sri Lanka where women have been liberated through their reproductive journey and are able to make informed decisions regarding both their maternal and neurological health — where every woman, regardless of background or status, has access to education and resources, and belongs to a community that empowers her throughout that journey.

Core values

Empowerment

Ensuring that women — or any individual with a uterus — are able to take charge of their health.

Equity

Ensuring that women in Sri Lanka have accessibility to tools and education regarding both reproduction and brain health.

Reproductive Health

Education and resources on the reproductive journey: healthy sex, self-pleasure, pre/postpartum care, hormone and cycle information.

Neurological Health

Education and tools for cognitive longevity, and awareness of conditions like Alzheimer's, dementia, and Parkinson's.

Inclusivity

Support for everyone capable of birthing — cis and trans women, trans men, and marginalised communities alike.

Community & Wellness

A safe space where individuals can be heard and empowered, together.

Our story

The inspiration behind Amma's Mind stems from a deep commitment to supporting and empowering Sri Lankan women, mothers, and individuals capable of birthing throughout their reproductive journeys — including those who have endured the heartbreak of pregnancy loss, miscarriage, or complicated births. The name Amma, meaning mother in Sinhala, embodies this commitment: to honor all mothers and soon-to-be mothers while ensuring access to education, resources, and support that have historically been limited or unavailable.

Research shows that women who experience reproductive trauma are at significantly increased risk of cognitive decline and neurodegenerative conditions like dementia later in life — yet there is very little awareness of this connection in Sri Lanka.

In Sri Lanka, the scarcity of comprehensive sexual and reproductive education leaves many individuals vulnerable to misinformation, reproductive health complications, and sexual abuse. Amma's Mind seeks to address these gaps by providing evidence-based reproductive health education, resources for cognitive wellness, and community support.

Our goal is to foster empowerment, knowledge, and liberation for all women capable of birthing. By combining education, resources, and community, we seek to transform the reproductive experience and promote long-term brain health for women across Sri Lanka.
